The Commons (Old City)

Slightly less grim than its neighbor to the north, this ward holds the bulk of the city’s poor, who typically dress in rough homespun or tired, well-worn secondhand garments.

The buildings are somewhat newer, mostly aging beam and whitewashed stucco with roofs of clay tiles or broken slate. The tenements are built close together, sometimes overhanging the streets, and sometimes the streets are filled in to allow more housing, leaving people to travel through the hallways of the buildings. During the dry season, house fires can wipe out entire neighborhoods, and cat-burglars run rampant.

The Thieves’ Guild make up the ward’s upper caste, and favors are readily available for a price.
